This Victorian terraced house in Wimbledon underwent a transformation with the addition of a rear extension.
Steel-framed glazing, which adds character while inviting in natural light. Herringbone oak flooring runs throughout, adding texture and flow, while the exposed brick wall offers a tactile connection to the house’s Victorian origins.
At the heart of this Wimbledon rear extension is the open-plan kitchen and dining area, where every detail has been carefully considered. A bespoke hanging bar suspended above the kitchen island both adds functionality and serves to divide the space.
A striking copper backsplash provides a rich, warm accent, beautifully catching the light during the day and offering a dramatic glow when paired with evening lighting. The central island becomes a hub for daily activities, whether it’s preparing meals, helping with homework, or hosting guests.
The compact WC is cleverly tucked beneath the staircase. It features bold, textured walls in dark tones, paired with brass fittings and a stunning copper-clad accent wall. This small space is designed to feel luxurious while being entirely functional—a practical addition for a busy household.
This Wimbledon project blends respect for the home’s Victorian roots with the demands of contemporary living. It’s a space that brings people together, with thoughtful design elements that cater to both shared moments and individual quiet time.
