From an initial idea, through to a detailed set of design drawings, to a final completed building; We are involved at every step of the design journey.
Initial
Consultation
In your initial consultation at your house, we’ll sit down to discuss your vision, budget, and timeline. We want to understand how you live and what drives you. We’ll then sketch out initial design ideas, offer expert advice, and assess the site to ensure we’re aligned with your goals.
Concept
Design
During Concept Design, we’ll explore design ideas through sketching, 3-dimensional modelling and mood boards. We will establish key principles for the project, considering factors like layout, style, materials, and environmental impact. This stage will result in a few different design options as required, which we will present and adapt with you at design meetings.
Technical
Design
This stage is where we finalise the design, so your project can move smoothly from concept to reality. The design is translated into detailed plans and specifications ready for construction.
At Cherry Architects, we’ll create precise drawings, choose materials, and work with manufacturers and engineers to ensure everything is functional, safe, and meets all regulations. We will also liaise with Building Control on your behalf to ensure sign-off.
Virtual Reality
& 3D Visualisation
Design discussions from the earliest stage will revolve around our 3-dimensional virtual model.
The latest virtual reality technology allow us at Cherry Architects to transport you into the virtual world of your new home or extension. By stepping inside the virtual building, you will notice spatial opportunities that could not be realised through looking at 2D plans alone.
Virtual reality allows us to explore how site-specific factors such as neighbouring buildings, daylight and the changing hourly sun-path will affect the proposed architecture. We can adapt the building to make the most of this.
Planning
Application
Planning permission is a legal consent that allows you to build. Many designs may not require planning permission as they are classed as Permitted Development. Permitted Development allows you to build without permission but imposes certain limitations to material and size. Cherry Architects produces a full planning application or permitted development application, which consists of 2-dimensional drawings with the addition of rendered images and reports as required.

Interior
Design
At Cherry Architects, we develop the interior design as standard. This involves the design of bespoke joinery, lighting, kitchens & bathrooms, as well the specification of items such as tiles, flooring and paint colours. Every detail is carefully considered to create a space that aligns with your architectural vision.
We do not design soft furnishings or loose furniture, but can recommend talented interior designers that we have worked with before if this is something that you require.

Consultants
We have good links to a vast network of consultants such as engineers, surveyors, cost consultants and builders and can make recommendations to ensure that you are always looked after.
Tender
Process
The tender phase involves preparing all the project documents and inviting contractors to submit their bids. We’ll review the bids with you to choose the right contractor, ensuring the project stays on budget and on schedule.
Construction
Management
We monitor the construction process on site, attending regular design meetings and working with the builder and specialist manufacturers to ensure that the project is delivered to the highest quality according to our design.
Cherry Architects also offers Contract Administration. This involves overseeing the building contract between you and your builder and issuing payment certificates when the build meets certain milestones. This phase keeps the project on track and ensures that everything is completed as planned.
Post-
Construction
We will conduct a final inspection to ensure everything meets the design and quality standards. We’ll also handle any remaining paperwork, address any issues or adjustments, and ensure you’re fully satisfied with the finished project. This phase ensures a smooth handover and that everything is ready for you to enjoy.
We maintain strong relationships with our clients well after the project is completed, always available to answer any questions or meet for a coffee and a catch-up!
